The Humane Society of Missouri’s (HSMO) Animal Cruelty Task Force (ACT), in conjunction with local law enforcement, recently rescued 9 dogs from a property in Farmington, Missouri. A tip from a citizen led them to this home where the canines, including 7 adult German shepherds and 2 adult bloodhounds, were severely emaciated and experiencing skin issues.

An investigator was sent to the property to check on the property after HSMO received the tip and saw accompanying photos. Once confirmed, the Humane Society got a warrant to save the animals who were “drastically underweight, infested with fleas and ticks, and suffering from open sores,” according to an organizational release.1

“The news and images from our task force team in Farmington are horrific and heart-breaking,” stated HSMO president Kathy Warnick, in the release. “The conditions at this property amount to one of the worst cases of animal neglect we’ve seen this year. The caring citizen who alerted us undoubtably saved the lives of these innocent dogs and gave them a second chance. We’ll do everything in our power to ensure these sweet animals receive the care they need to fully recover and find loving forever homes.”

A court hearing to secure custody of the dogs will take place December 1, 2022, as the dogs receive veterinary care in the interim.
