Can you share your journey to becoming the co-founder of Canine Journal?

I always wanted to work with dogs and help humans be the best parents we can be. I tried working at a dog bakery and sewing custom dog leashes, but neither was a good fit for my personality and skillset in marketing. So, when my husband asked me to turn my dog collar website, Fashion-Hound, into a content website, I was all over it! And CanineJournal.com was born.

What sparked your love for dogs? How has that passion evolved over time?

Since the day I was born, I had dogs. We had shih-tzus growing up, and I adored them. The earliest photos of me crawling around include our dog, E’Nuff (aka Nuffy). When I was in college, I fell in love with a Dalmatian named Domino, whom my mom’s office mate was looking to rehome, and he became my first dog as an adult. Since then, I have never had a home without at least one dog, and I cannot imagine life without their unconditional love and life force.  Being able to educate myself more every day on what makes them tick while also helping others is such a gift!

Tell us how you became an artist?

In 2020, during lockdown, I started painting in watercolors via an online art therapy class and have painted every day since! I especially love doing pet portraits of dogs and capturing the beauty and wonder of nature in watercolors and mixed media.

What inspired you to create dog stickers?

Since I love dogs and I love painting, creating a sticker design for CanineJournal seemed like a natural combination of my passions! Adding stars from the Milky Way to the design also brought in my fascination with nature and the night sky. It was really a magical design to create, and I am honored to offer it via Canine Journal.

Plus, people love stickers!!

What’s next for the Canine Journal shop and your art?

I would love to design another sticker in the shape of another dog breed. I am thinking maybe about one for spring with lots of colorful flowers. What do you think of this idea?

I also am currently running a fundraiser for Hurricane Helene relief in Western North Carolina, our home state. Buy a t-shirt with my art and help support those in so much need during these devastating times.
