VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Hillsboro man is making the over 350-mile journey from the Montana-North Dakota border to the Memorial Bridge in Moorhead, and he made a stop in Valley City.
Andrew Nathan began his bike ride early Friday, August 13th, and has ridden along I-94. Nathan is working to raise awareness for Patriot Assistance Dogs (PAD). The organization works to support veterans by matching those who may be struggling, both mentally and emotionally, with rescue dogs who become service dogs. Nathan says this supports both the dogs and the veterans.
In 2020, Nathan completed the ride in 3 days. This year, he will finish in just two days. It’s important to note that Nathan has not considered himself much of a biker, but following his two tours, he would say he is now.
Raymond Pizarro is a board member with PAD. He says that the organization is volunteer-driven, which is why PAD stands out.
Last year, PAD met its goal of $50,000 raised through the Bike Ride across the state. This year, the goal is to raise $75,000. Those interested can donate by visiting the organization’s website here.
Nathan was met by the Valley City Fire Department before arriving in Valley City and was given an escort. Joel Zeets, who is a supporter of the cause, joined Nathan for part of his trek.
