A now-viral video showcasing one family’s eight dogs has charmed the internet.

The video, posted to TikTok on Wednesday by the Goodlin siblings (@thegoodhype), has amassed more than 5 million views and over 1.3 million likes. It’s also received thousands of comments from dog lovers, many of whom said it was their “dream” to own multiple dogs.

The video opens with the family’s gray-faced golden retriever looking at the camera.

“I was sad, so I got a dog,” said the video’s narrator.

In the next frame, the golden continues to stare at the camera, only now, it has a leash in its mouth.

“When I saw how happy it made me, I got my dog a dog,” the video’s narrator continued as the camera panned to reveal a German shepherd.

The video went on like this for about 30 seconds, until all eight of the siblings’ dogs—the aforementioned golden retriever, two German shepherds, an English mastiff, a Bernese mountain dog, two Great Danes and a Great Pyrenees—were accounted for.

According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), “having a multi-dog home can be great, but it’s not for everyone or every dog.”

Before adopting multiple dogs, the AKC says individuals should remember that there’s an increased cost to owning several dogs.

“You’ll want to do long-term financial planning for the costs of adding additional dogs to your family,” the organization suggested. “When looking at your budget, pay special attention to added veterinary costs for senior dogs or injured dogs that need surgery or longer-term care.”

Additionally, multiple dogs require extra supervision and are ultimately a greater time commitment.

Still, many of the Goodlin siblings’ commenters said it was their “dream” to have a house full of dogs.

“I LOVE THIS. MY DREAM IS TO GET MY DOG’S DOG A DOG AND JUST KEEP IT GOING,” exclaimed Joey.

“This is the dream,” said Julia.

Qwavie added: “Please stop living my fantasy life in real life…too cute.”

In general, viewers loved the video.

“This is the premise of a children’s book,” commented Umbra.

“This is genius, the dogs pay the vet bills for their dogs so you only get one vet bill,” joked eliot bern.

“Now this is heaven,” said alyssa.

“You better get that dog a dog, too,” added Gordy in regards to the last dog in the lineup.

Newsweek has reached out to the Goodlin siblings for comment.

Of course, the Goodlin siblings’ video isn’t the first of its kind to earn widespread attention this week. On Friday, a TikTok video of a dog “eating” its owner’s homework went viral, along with a video of another dog herding sheep to the front door of its owner’s home.

And on Wednesday, a video of a golden retriever pretending to be asleep to avoid trouble amassed 3.7 million views.
