3 steps to help your dog feel young
For a while, I have been aware that many dog lovers don’t know that mineral deficiencies can lead to dehydration and premature aging in their beloved dogs.
The reason why is because the body needs the right osmotic balance in order to maintain the optimal mineral to water ratio. When essential minerals are missing, the body has to reduce the water volume to achieve the proper electrolyte levels it needs.
Over the years, I have frequently written on the topic of mineral and nutrient depletion, but now we have more data to confirm what is happening. In fact, the situation is worse than I thought because almost every dog that doesn’t get mineral supplements is deficient.
I often wonder why some people still resist taking a few simple steps to supplement their dog’s food in order to help them be healthier and live longer. It is as if the universal plan for them was to learn the hard way. It is difficult to watch the unnecessary suffering and loss.
I also wonder if these guardians are concerned about the cost, but having been a veterinarian for over 30 years, I know that buying a few supplements for their dogs is much less costly than treating any disease. Also there is the emotional hardship and their dogs’ decreased quality of life that must be considered.
I think the biggest reason why some people don’t give supplements is that they just never thought of essential mineral depletion as a cause of dehydration and disease.
There are 37 000 000 000 000 000 000 000! chemical reactions taking place in the body every second and better hydration undoubtedly leads to better health.
